Chelsea players watch as Fulham score

Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Ipswich for December 30

This is a Chelsea predicted lineup for their Premier League clash with newcomers Ipswich Town on December 30. This is one of the final outings of a busy Christmas season of fixtures which has, as usual, seen the Blues hit a stumbling block or two in both form and their previously excellent injury record.

How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez continue to share the spoils in goal. The preferred back line is Marc Cucurella, Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Malo Guso due to injuries. Axel Disasi, Renato Veiga, and Josh Acheampong can all come in as rotation if needed.

Moises Caiceido and Enzo Fernandez are the starting pair in midfield and play almost any time they’re available. Cesare Casadei and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have offered cover in the absence of Romeo Lavia.

The attacking unit sees Cole Palmer in the middle supporting Nicolas Jackson with Jadon Sancho on the left and Pedro Neto on the right. Noni Madueke can come in for Neto, while Sancho’s main replacement is just Neto moving flanks, young Tyrique George can play on either side but hasn’t in the league yet.

Jackson’s backup is Marc Guiu with Christopher Nkunku starting as an attacking midfielder in other competitions, but only being a substitute striker in the Premier League so far.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

It all came crashing down at the weekend as a 2-1 derby defeat to Fulham ended an impressive unbeaten run. A draw at Everton had already been a departure after stringing together wins but the defeat at home to bitter rivals is sure to leave a sting in the tail for the Blues.

The good run was tied to Enzo Maresca’s utilisation of a 4-2-3-1/3-2-4-1 formation that was able to overwhelm opponents by dominating possession. Using this setup and tweaking who inverted and to where had seen his team score goals for fun, but a recent drop in output has put their defensive weaknesses on full display as the squad still look incapable of keeping back-to-back clean sheets.

Chelsea Injuries to Consider

Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Lavia, Reece James, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall all missed the squad in midweek due to injuries. Mykhailo Mudryk was also absent due to his suspension.
