Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Heidenheim for November 28

CHelsea players in training

This is a Chelsea predicted lineup for their Europa Conference League trip to Germany when they take on Heidenheim. Despite being in this tournament, the home side are currently near the bottom of the Bundesliga and shouldn’t present much of a challenge to the English giants despite the need for rotation.

Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Heidenheim for Conference League Clash

How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen split the goalkeeping duties while the defence has been mixed and matched. Wesley Fofana, Malo Gusto, and Reece James have all played on the right, Gusto and James also played on the left where Marc Cucurella usually fills in. The central pairing has also been shuffled with Benoit Badiashile playing alongside Levi Colwill, who usually partners Fofana. Tosin Adarabioyo has also started, usually on the right side of the pairing.

Renato Veiga is a swiss-army knife who has set out as an inverted left-back or as a deeper midfielder. Axel Disasi also gets some game time as an emergency right-back. In the midfield there’s been some movement recently with Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia the primary pairing, Enzo Fernandez broke into that this past weekend, starting alongside Caicedo, he has also started as a lone midfielder before.

In the attack, Joao Felix starts as a number ten usually, but he has recently been pushed out left to drift in and operate outside the box, against Leicester he filled this role alongside Cole Palmer. Christopher Nkunku has been used as a striker but he was also moved to an attacking midfield spot against Noah.

Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto, Mykhailo Mudryk, Tyrique George, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have all played as wingers with absences forcing some chopping and changing. Nicolas Jackson is the lead striker but Nkunku has played there, Marc Guiu scored in the last European tie and caused some chaos with his pressing abilities.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

Enzo Maresca has mainly utilised his very fluid 4-2-3-1 and used something more akin to a 4-1-4-1 recently. Against the Foxes his team set up to dominate possession with Felix, Enzo, and Palmer all operating around the box while Cucurella was almost a left-winger. This left a back-three to clean up counters with Caicedo shielding. This very attacking variant of his formation has been seen moreso in the Conference League where Veiga as left-back tends to move inside and allow the midfielders to push up more.

A win at the weekend was a welcome one for the Blues who haven’t been winning much in the Premier League. Despite that they are dominating this competition with nobody looking capable of matching their quality.

Chelsea Absences to Consider

The travelling squad tells us who is and isn’t available for this one. Palmer, Fofana, Lavia, Ben Chillwell, Marcus Bettinelli, Caicedo, Cucurella, Enzo, Gusto, Jackson, James, and Neto are all in England and will not feature in this one.
