Arsenal Predicted Lineup Vs Sporting CP in Champions League

How Arsenal Have Lined up Recently

Martin Ødegaard has now started back-to-back games, and what a difference he makes, so it’ll be interesting to see if he’s able to do so again, following over two months on the sidelines due to an ankle injury.

Mikel Arteta rotated his attack against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus coming into the team.

Declan Rice, who’s reportedly nursing a broken toe, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz were all unused substitutes at the weekend. Will the trio all return?

Arsenal Recent Form and Tactics

Following a much-needed victory at the weekend, can Arsenal start to build some momentum?

On Saturday, goals from Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey and then 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri saw the Gunners swat aside Nottingham Forest in North London.

Nwaneri became the youngest Englishman to score for Arsenal since 1982. The Gunners had a player in the teens, 20s and 30s net in a Premier League game for the first time in five years.

More importantly, this ended their four-match winless run in the league. This needs to be the start of a winning streak if they’re to keep pace with run-away leaders Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Arteta’s team also require Champions League points, having been beaten by Inter Milan at the San Siro in their most-recent European fixture three weeks ago.

This means Arsenal have won only one of their last eight away games in this competition, a record they’ll be desperate to somewhat rectify at Estádio José Alvalade.

Arsenal Injuries to Consider

Benjamin White is sidelined long-term, while fellow full-backs Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney are also injured. Thus, it’ll be Jurriën Timber at right-back for the foreseeable future. Will Riccardo Calafiori keep his place on the other side, with Oleksandr Zinchenko, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Jakub Kiwior alternatives?

Elsewhere, will Ødegaard be ready to go again, having played 82 minutes at the weekend?

Given Rice’s aforementioned broken toe, he too may not be risked.

Of the 11 that started against Sporting in Lisbon as recently as March 2022, only William Saliba, Martinelli and Saka are likely to do so here too.
