Oxford United will be looking to bounce back from their heavy defeat against Middlesbrough when they travel to Sheffield United.

The U’s lost 6-2 at Grenoble Road with the visitors clinical in front of goal, highlighting some defensive frailties at the same time.

That defeat means it’s just one win from 11 for Des Buckingham’s side ahead of a trip to high-flying Sheffield United.

The Blades played out a 2-2 draw at Coventry last time out but are unbeaten in their last five, winning four. Chris Wilder’s side have only lost twice this season, with both defeats coming on the road.

Oxford are still without a win on their travels this season, picking up just two points. Bramall Lane is a fortress for the Blades who have six wins and one draw from their seven fixtures. They have also conceded just twice at home this season.

Oxford welcomed back Cameron Brannagan for the defeat against Middlesbrough. Wingers Przemyslaw Placheta and Matt Phillips also made a return from the bench. However, captain Elliott Moore will miss the game through suspension and Peter Kioso is a doubt after picking up an illness while away on international duty.

Anel Ahmedhodžić was sent off in that draw against the Sky Blues so he will miss the game. Ollie Arblaster and Sai Sachdev are absent, while Rhian Brewster and Kieffer Moore are doubts for the fixture.

Sheffield United have won eight of the last nine fixtures between the two sides, however Oxford’s one victory did come at Bramall Lane. The Blades did the double over Oxford when the sides last met in the 2016/17 League One season.

Predicted line-up: Jamie Cumming, Greg Leigh, Ciaron Brown, Sam Long, Hidde ter Avest, Will Vaulks, Josh McEachran, Cameron Brannagan, Przemyslaw Placheta, Tyler Goodrham, Dane Scarlett.

Prediction: Sheffield United 3-0 Oxford United
