New Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim will make his bow in the Red Devils’ dugout this weekend as he takes his new outfit to Ipswich Town in a 4.30 PM Sunday afternoon kickoff at Portman Road. The Portuguese manager will be looking to get his reign off to the best possible start and extend United’s unbeaten run in all competitions to five games – but will face a tough test from former United coach Kieran McKenna’s side. Here is the Manchester United predicted lineup for the clash.
Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Ipswich Town
How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently
Manchester United have thus far lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation this season, a legacy of the departed Erik ten Hag continued by Dutch compatriot Ruud van Nistelrooy in his interim stint in the Old Trafford hot seat. Under new Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, there is widespread expectation that the Red Devils will switch to three at the back in either a 3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1 formation.

André Onana has been a near-permanent fixture in goal for the Red Devils. Their settled back four of Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs De Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, and Diogo Dalot has conceded the third-least number of goals in the Premier League.
In midfield, Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte have formed a formidable partnership, with Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford supporting Rasmus Hojlund in attack.
Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics
After a wretched start to the season which cost Ten Hag his job, the Red Devils, under interim boss Van Nistelrooy, put together an unbeaten four-game run in all competitions to steady the ship ahead of the new manager’s arrival. With Ten Hag having tried to introduce a more patient, possession-heavy style of play before his departure, United have recently reverted to a more direct, counter-attacking tactic that has seen the return to form of players such as Garnacho, Fernandes and Ugarte.

Whilst we cannot be sure of Amorim’s approach, it is safe to say the former Sporting Lisbon manager will look to put his own stamp on the side, implementing a high-pressure, high-energy style over a longer period of time.
Manchester United Injuries to Consider
Victor Lindelof (Groin), Kobbie Mainoo (Thigh) and Harry Maguire (Calf) are ruled out of Sunday’s encounter but are expected back in action next week. Tyrell Malacia (Match fitness) is building back to being match fit after over a year out with a knee injury, whilst Lisandro Martinez (Back) is doubtful for Sunday’s clash with a back injury. Luke Shaw (Calf) and Lény Yoro (Ankle) are back in training and expected back in competitive action at the start of December.
