Arsenal Give Thomas Partey Contract Update
What Did Mikel Arteta Say About Partey’s Future?
The Ghana midfielder has been a key player for the Gunners this season, but his current contract is set to expire at the end of June 2025. As a result, he can start discussions with other clubs over a possible pre-contract agreement in January if unable to agree a new deal with the Premier League giants before that.

Arteta seemingly indicated that Arsenal are trying to stop that from happening and that they will hold contract extension talks with him soon. He stated: “The one thing that we needed was Thomas to be at the level we wanted certainly. He’s working so hard to do what he’s doing at the moment, and I think he’s playing really well in different positions with different demands and he’s coping with it in a great way. He’s a big player for us. He’s only 31 and he’s in a really good place and yeah, we’ll have discussions [over his contract].”
How Has Partey’s Season Gone So Far?
After being able to stay clear of injuries in the 2024/25 season, the 31-year-old midfielder has become a regular for Arteta’s side in the first few months of the campaign. Partey has played in 13 of Arsenal’s 14 matches across all competitions so far, starting in all their nine Premier League games and even playing as a makeshift right-back against Southampton and Liverpool.

In fact, he produced a rather brilliant performance in the draw against the Reds. Partey neutralized their threat down his wing, with his heroics being praised as “outstanding and exceptional” for his outing. Partey’s only goal in the campaign came in the vital 2-0 win over Aston Villa in the league, and the midfielder’s hard-working nature appears to be closing him on a new Arsenal contract.
