Here are three defenders to transfer in ahead of FPL Gameweek 10 as the Premier League season reaches its first quarter.
Three Defenders To Transfer In For FPL Gameweek 10
Gabriel – Arsenal (vs Newcastle) – £6.3 Million
The high-cost option for this week comes in the form of Gabriel, who continues to lead Arsenal’s backline in the absence of William Saliba. Not involved in any capacity in his side’s win against Preston in the EFL Cup, the Brazilian will without doubt come back into the team for the Gunners’ trip to Newcastle on Saturday as they look for their first league win since October 5.
Despite Newcastle’s win over Chelsea in the EFL Cup, their league form rivals that of the teams towards the bottom of the table, with Eddie Howe’s side winless in five games – their last win coming on September 15 against Wolves.

With just three goals scored for the Magpies since that win over Wolves, it is clear that they are struggling to put the ball in the back of the net when it matters most, so Gabriel and Arsenal will be confident they can heap further misery on the Tyneside outfit.
Ibrahima Konate – Liverpool (vs Brighton) – £5.3 Million
Also rested for his side’s EFL Cup tie this week, Ibrahima Konate comes into the weekend fully rested after the Reds beat the Seagulls 3-2 at the Amex. Now they face the same opposition at home on Saturday, hoping to make it seven games unbeaten in the league. The Reds continue to hold the best defensive record in the league with five goals conceded and with Konate playing 90 minutes in seven of the nine outings so far this season, it is safe to say he’s been a key to their successes.
If funds are thin and Virgil van Dijk is unobtainable, Konate is the next best option from a defence that are performing at an extremely high level right now.
James Tarkowski – Everton (vs Southampton) – £4.8 Million
The cheap option for Gameweek 10 is Everton’s James Tarkowski who has captained the Toffees through an impressive five-game league unbeaten run, one of the best spells of any team in the league.
Playing every minute for Everton so far this campaign, the Englishman has led his defence in honourable fashion in recent weeks, with the Merseyside outfit conceding just three times during this run, easing the pressure on Sean Dyche who must have been wondering when his P45 would arrive after starting the campaign with four losses from the opening four league matches.

Travelling to the joint-lowest scorers in the league Southampton who have lost four on the bounce this Saturday, the Toffees will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run, as Tarkowski and co. will be out to prove that their form of late is no purple patch.
