Aston Villa Predicted Lineup vs. Bologna

How Aston Villa Have Lined up Recently

Amadou Onana returned to the team on Saturday, having recovered from a hamstring injury, while Jacob Ramsey was also able to start against Fulham, despite hobbling off during the victory over Bayern Munich just 17 days earlier.

Meanwhile, Matty Cash has now started back-to-back Premier League games, after being sidelined for four league games beforehand due to a hamstring injury sustained in late-August.

Six players have still maintained their record of having started all ten Premier League and Champions League fixtures so far. They are: Emi Martínez, Pau Torres, Lucas Digne, Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins.

Aston Villa’s Recent Form and Tactics

Can Aston Villa make it three wins out of three in this season’s Champions League?

First up, the Claret and Blue Army announced their return to UEFA’s premier club competition after more than four decades away by smashing BSC Young Boys 3-0 at Stadion Wankdorf.

Then, a fortnight later, the Villans claimed, arguably, their most famous win of modern times, beating Bayern Munich 1-0 in Birmingham, thanks to Jhon Durán’s stunning late strike.

Thus, Unai Emery’s team are one of only seven clubs in this season’s Champions League with maximum points on the board, looking to continue their perfect start here.

As Martínez himself told TNT Sports following the Bayern victory, Villa are targeting a ‘top eight’ finish in the league phase, thereby going straight through to the last 16, an ambition that may have felt fanciful, but now appears to be within their grasp.

Meantime, on Saturday, they came from a goal down to beat Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage, a simply crazy game in West London, a result that saw them climb up to fourth, with most expecting them to win this one too, with Bologna the latest visitors to the Midlands.

Aston Villa Injuries to Consider

Ezri Konsa is still sidelined, sustaining a hamstring injury against Manchester United, so Diego Carlos will keep his place in defence.

In better news, John McGinn and Boubacar Kamara were both back on the bench against Fulham, the latter having not featured since 11 February following knee surgery.

McGinn enjoyed a seven minute cameo at the weekend, so could return to the lineup.

Jaden Philogene was sent off late on at Craven Cottage, meaning he’ll be suspended on Saturday, but is of course available for this one.
