FPL Tips: Three Midfielders You Need to Transfer in for Gameweek 8 Including ‘Promising’ Youngster

FPL Tips: Three Midfielders You Need to Transfer in for Gameweek 8

The Premier League returns after another international break as players gear up to showcase their talent in club colours. Last Word on Football brings you three midfielders that you should transfer into your Gameweek 8 squad, with the FPL deadline set for 11:00 AM BST on October 19.

Three Midfielders to Transfer in for FPL Gameweek 8

Mohamed Salah (£12.7m)

Mohamed Salah will be leading Liverpool’s attacking unit when they take on Chelsea in a high-octane clash on Sunday. The Egyptian has eight goal contributions in the league in 2024/25 and the second-highest FPL points among midfielders, behind Cole Palmer.

Chelsea are showing signs of improvement under new manager Enzo Maresca and currently sit in fourth place in the league table, but Liverpool’s attack might have too much firepower for the Blues’ defence. They have conceded eight goals so far. Besides, playing at home will give Salah & Co. a huge advantage.

The suspension of Chelsea’s first-choice left-back Marc Cucurella for the Anfield fixture will lead to Salah getting more joy down the right wing. The Spanish defender’s potential replacement, Renato Veiga, is new to the English Premier League and will have a hard time facing Liverpool’s talisman.

Anthony Gordon (£7.3m)

Alexander Isak’s injury had led to more responsibility falling on the shoulders of the young Anthony Gordon. The Englishman responded by scoring the equaliser against Manchester City. He has another good chance of putting his name on the scoresheet this weekend.

Brighton & Hove Albion have the worst defensive record among the teams in the top half of the table. This record might worsen further when they travel to St. James’ Park.

Gordon will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing Brighton’s high defensive line. The former Everton attacker’s pace should prove to be a huge headache for Lewis Dunk and the rest of the defence. Valued at £7.3m, selecting Gordon for Gameweek 8 can be an intelligent choice.

Tyler Dibling (£4.6m) – A Cost-Effective Option for Gameweek 8

Tyler Dibling is starting to turn heads thanks to a series of  “promising” performances in the league. His output in front of the goal has been modest but that could start to change on Saturday as the 18-year-old faces a relatively easier opposition in Leicester City.

The Foxes’ leaky defence has conceded 12 goals and might ship in more against Southampton. Manager Russell Martin will bank upon Dibling and his fellow attackers to do more damage to the Leicester defence.

Dibling’s solitary league goal came against Ipswich Town when the teenager opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the game. Against Arsenal, the winger came close to grabbing an equaliser in the 78th minute when his long-range shot grazed the woodwork. Buying him for £4.6m will allow FPL players to select big hitters like Salah or Palmer for other midfield spots.
