Arsenal went into the October (2024) international break off the back of a thrilling 3-1 win over Southampton in which they had to come from being a goal down. However, it seems that their in-form forward Kai Havertz, who scored in the game, might’ve suffered an injury blow in the win.

What Happened to Havertz?

Despite his impressive performance against the Saints, it looks like Havertz might have somehow hurt himself. He has now pulled out of the Germany squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League games in the October international break.

The German football federation made a statement confirming his injury, as they stated: “Kai Havertz will miss the upcoming international matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands due to knee problems. National coach Julian Nagelsmann chose Jonathan Burkardt in Havertz’s place. Get well soon, Kai! We look forward to seeing you, Jonathan!”

As per Fabrizio Romano, the German forward will now be assessed by the Gunners’ medical staff in the next few days to identify the severity of the injury. Mikel Arteta will hope that it isn’t anything major as he’s already missing captain Martin Odegaard because of an injury he sustained in the September international break.

He earned major praise from Arteta after the Villa game as the gaffer stated: “You can tell [his confidence has grown], he takes the ball and he runs with the ball. He’s on high press, he goes full gas, the way he holds the ball, the position he takes in the box.

“He’s an attacking midfielder, he plays as a nine, you don’t know where he is, that’s his football brain. His focus now is ‘I’m going to win the game, I’m going to do it’ and that’s a different thing.” Havertz was also hailed as “exceptional” by the manager after the win over Southampton, and his goal against the Saints helped take his tally to six goals in ten appearances across all competitions this season.
