'Interest Remains': Key Update on Chelsea Interest in 'Fantastic' Striker: Victor Osimhen

Chelsea have had a great start to the Enzo Maresca era as they picked up a dominant 4-2 win over Brighton to win their fourth match of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign after six games. Despite being the highest-scoring team in the division (with 15 goals), the Blues continue being linked with a potential future move for Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea Retain Transfer Interest in Victor Osimhen

Will Chelsea Make Move for Osimhen in January?

The Blues saw Osimhen join Galatasaray on loan for the 2024/25 season after failing to strike an agreement with him over a potential transfer. But Fabrizio Romano claims that they still have an interest in potentially signing the Nigerian forward in the near future.

Romano told CaughtOffside: “I’ve said many times recently that Chelsea’s interest remains and they still like the player, but there are no negotiations ongoing and it would be disrespectful for Galatasaray as they paid important money to land Osimhen on loan. So it’s all quiet for now, and once we get closer to January we will see the developments.”

The journalist has also refuted rumours that hinted that Chelsea might look to break the forward’s loan spell at Galatasaray in the 2025 January transfer window and try to sign him for only £40 million to bolster their frontline. Despite their interest, the London giants have clearly not started negotiations to sign him and are moving slowly with their interest.

How Has Osimhen Performed This Season?

The 25-year-old striker had quite the chaotic summer transfer window as Napoli were insistent at offloading him as Antonio Conte had no place for him in his squad. As a result, Osimhen opted to accept the loan move to Galatasaray after the summer window closed for countries like England and Spain.

He has embraced his new life with the Turkish heavyweights and has been playing pretty well for them. Osimhen was hailed as a “fantastic” player by Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho recently and has six goal contributions (two goals, four assists) in four Galatasaray appearances so far, as he seems intent on helping his side win trophies in his one-season loan spell.
