How Tottenham Hotspur Have Lined Up Recently

Head coach Ange Postecoglou has stuck to his 4-3-3 formation so far, shuffling players when necessary, earning the Australian three wins and one draw from six matches across all competitions, succumbing to only Newcastle and London rivals Arsenal. Between the sticks, Guglielmo Vicario has been an almost permanent fixture in goal, conceding just four goals in five games, and getting a clean sheet against Everton.

The defensive line has been subject to change in recent matches. Still, Postecoglou seems to prefer Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro at the fullback positions, with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven at the heart of Spurs’s defence. In midfield, James Maddison has solidified his position with the Englishman being the only midfielder to have started all five Premier League games for the Lilywhites.

He is partnered with Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr but in recent outings against Brentford and Arsenal, Postecoglou opted to bring in Dejan Kulusevski instead to occupy Dominic Solanke who was among the scorers in their emphatic 3-1 win against the Bees.

As the Englishman led the charge, he was supported by club captain Son Heung-Min on the left and Brennan Johnson on the right who seems to have found his goalscoring form, finding the back of the net against Coventry in the Carabao Cup and Brentford in the league.

Tottenham Hotspur Recent Form and Tactics

Tottenham Hotspur’s recent form has been a rollercoaster, reflecting both moments of brilliance and periods of struggle. Their journey through the last few matches has been a testament to the unpredictable nature of football.

Starting with their clash against Brentford, Spurs managed to secure a convincing 3-1 victory at home. Dominic Solanke was the star of the show, getting off the mark for Tottenham and leading the charge. This win was a much-needed boost for the team, especially after a series of less favourable results.

In the Carabao Cup, the Lilywhites managed to edge past Championship side Coventry, in a narrow 1-2 win with Brennan Johnson and unlikely scorer Djed Spence coming to their rescue in the final five minutes. The North London derby against Arsenal was another challenging fixture. Despite a spirited performance, Spurs fell short, losing 1-0 at home.

In their match against Newcastle, they seemed to be the dominant side unleashing 20 shots but were unable to convert, ultimately losing 1-2 at St James Park. Postecoglou secured his first win of the season with a dominant 4-0 win over Everton coming off a disappointing draw against newly promoted Leicester City.

Overall, Tottenham Hotspur’s recent form has been a blend of highs and lows. The team has shown flashes of brilliance but also areas that need improvement. As the season progresses, consistency will be key for Spurs if they aim to achieve their goals.

Tottenham Hotspur Injuries To Consider

Tottenham have only two injury concerns to deal with at the moment as the fixture list continues to ramp up. Timo Werner and Yves Bissouma seem to have shaken off their injuries with both players being involved in their emphatic 3-1 win over Brentford.

Wilson Odobert, who was a somewhat surprising £25 million signing for the team from Burnley in the summer, has been playing quite often in the early weeks of the season. However, he had to be substituted after just 18 minutes in the game against Coventry.

Postecoglou admitted after the game that it seemed like a “fairly significant” issue. In his latest update before the Brentford game, he confirmed that Odobert has a hamstring injury that will keep the teenage French winger out of action for some time, pending further assessment.

Richarlison sustained an unspecified injury in training before the trip to Newcastle earlier this month and has not featured since.
