Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Barrow for September 24

Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku fights for the ball with Liverpool's Luis Diaz

The Carabao Cup takes the stage with this meeting between League 2 table toppers and a Premier League side currently on the fringes of the top four. This is a Chelsea predicted lineup for the tie as Enzo Maresca will likely rotate heavily with his team’s Europa Conference League group stage kicking of next week.

How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Without European matches or cups in recent weeks, we have seen a consistent first-choice team emerge with Robert Sanchez standing out as the number one option in goals. A back four of Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella has been broken up due to injury with Axel Disasi and Tosin Adarabioyo filling in.

Renato Veiga, Moises Caicedo, and Enzo Fernandez have played in the deeper midfield spots with Cole Palmer as the central attacking midfielder. Jadon Sancho and Pedo Neto have started on the left with Noni Madueke locking down the right. Nico Jackson remains unchallenged as the top striker.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

Maresca’s go-to is the 4-2-31/4-3-3 set up but against some weaker teams he can go for a more obvious 3-2-4-1 with a full-back inverting and pushing one of the midfielders higher up the field.  Results have gone well since the international break with back-to-back wins and clean sheets in the Premier League.

Goals are either hard to come by or they rain in with the Blues being held to just one score in three of their last five matches, then they put six past Wolves and netted three times against West Ham in what appear to be outliers.

Chelsea Injuries to Consider

According to the manager, Romeo Lavia is the only player unavailable for the clash with Barrow. He confirmed that Gusto will be healthy to make his return if needed.

Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Barrow

There’s likely to be some heavy rotation here with fringe players and academy standouts being given a chance to impress. Between the cups, Europe, and the league the club’s schedule is going to get hectic so taking this chance to rest key players is a must for Maresca.
