FPL Tips: The Midfield Players You Should Transfer in for Gameweek Three

FPL Tips: The Midfield Players You Should Transfer in for Gameweek Three

The next round of the 2024/25 Premier League season is already almost upon us, so here are three FPL midfielders that should be brought in for Gameweek Three.

Three Gameweek Three FPL Midfielders to Gamble On

Morgan Rodgers – Aston Villa – £5.1 Million

Our low-cost option for this weekend is Aston Villa wide-man Morgan Rodgers, who performed superbly against Arsenal last weekend, despite his side falling to a 2-0 defeat. His pace, directness and trickery were all on show against the Gunners, with his twisting and turning of Declan Rice during the first half one of the highlights of his match.

The cheapest Villa winger that’s likely to start for Unai Emery’s side against Leicester this weekend, his inclusion into teams for Gameweek Three is a low-risk one. There is great potential for high-reward against a Leicester City side who looked shaky defensively against Fulham last Saturday, so transferring him in before a possible price rise could be a shrewd move.

Noni Madueke – Chelsea – £6.5 Million – LWOF FPL Gameweek Three Choice

Despite being just £1.4 million more expensive than Rodgers, an exception for Madueke to be the medium-cost option for this weekend has to be made.

Fresh off the back of his stunning performance against Wolves that saw him bag his first career hattrick, Madueke should be a priority transfer for many players this weekend. Since the arrival of new Blues boss Enzo Maresca – who after his side’s 6-2 win at Molineux labelled the 22-year old as “the kind of winger I like” – the England youth international has shown a more confident, dangerous side to his game. Chelsea fans should be thrilled with his rise that has seen him become one of the first names on Maresca’s team sheet.

Scoring three of six goals away to Wolves – the first time the Midlands side have shipped such an amount at home in over 15 years – is no mean feat. Banking on Madueke to pick up where he left off when the Blues host Crystal Palace on Sunday (who are yet to pick up a point) wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Mohamed Salah – Liverpool – £12.6 Million

The most expensive midfielder in FPL, Mohamed Salah is the high-cost option for this weekend.

Liverpool take on Manchester United this Sunday, with the Red Devils needing a fix-up of their defensive frailties after conceding a 95th-minute winner against Brighton last weekend as their backline left an unmarked Joao Pedro to head home the winner from close range.

Arne Slot‘s Reds, however, looked mighty sharp against Brentford in their last game, winning 2-0 and showing no signs that they’re still reeling from the departure of Jurgen Klopp. On the counter-attack against the Bees, they were dangerous as Luis Diaz scored from one in the first half, before Salah scored his second goal of the season with a trademark close-range dink over the keeper to seal all three points for his side.

The choice of Salah for this game should be a fairly basic one, especially when you look at his stats against United throughout his Premier League career. 11 goals (including a hattrick in a 5-0 win in 2021) and four assists against his club’s long-time rivals is a sparkling record, so FPL players would be silly not to include the Egyptian in their teams, with his inclusion a sure guarantee for some easy points.
