Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the status of Ugarte after he was left out of PSG’s squad for the second week in a row ahead of their Ligue 1 game against Montpellier. The journalist states that this is because the Uruguayan midfielder’smove to Old Trafford is now in the “final stages” and an agreement is on the verge of being reached.

This comes after the journalist had reported the details discussed between the two sides to get this deal over the line before the end of the 2024 summer window. Romano stated that the Red Devils want to proceed with signing Ugarte on loan for the 2024/25 season and then permanently signing him in 2025. He added that recent meetings between United and PSG have been positive, raising optimism that this transfer should be concluded soon.
When Could Ugarte Start Playing For United?
Ugarte might not have played any matches for PSG since returning from the 2024 Copa America campaign, where he helped Uruguay reach the semi-finals, but he has been training hard to keep himself sharp. If the Red Devils can get this deal over the line before deadline day (August 30), he should be ready to feature in their highly anticipated game against Liverpool at Old Trafford on September 1.
