How Nottingham Forest Have Lined-up Recently

Forest’s final pre-season friendly against UEFA Conference League champions Olympiacos saw them line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, a system that on the face of it seems the best one for the team with the players they have.

Matz Sels began in goal and had in front of him a defensive line – from right to left – of Nico Williams, Willy Boly, Murillo, and Ola Aina. Club captain Ryan Yates and Ibrahima Sangare sat in front of the defence, while the front four consisted of Nico Dominguez on the right, Morgan Gibbs-White through the middle, new signing Elliot Anderson on the left and Chris Wood up front.

Nottingham Forest Recent Form and Tactics

Forest played six games during their preseason preparations, winning three (3-0 vs Chesterfield, 2-1 vs Millwall and 4-3 vs Olympiacos), drawing two (1-1 vs Sunderland and 0-0 vs Villarreal) and losing one (1-0 vs Elche).

As with any team managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, they have, for the most part, demonstrated their well-drilled defensive nous while also causing their opponents problems in attack through their dangermen in Woo, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga, who all scored during their side’s warm-up matches.

New defensive signing from Fiorentina Nikola Milenkovic started three of his new side’s pre-season matches, but not the final one against Olympiacos, which would suggest Nuno’s desire to rest him for tomorrow’s match opposite the Cherries.

Nottingham Forest Injuries to Consider

At the time of writing (August 16), Forest are looking good on the injury front with no players at risk of missing tomorrow’s game, leaving Nuno with a full squad to choose from.
