FPL Tips: Three Nottingham Forest Players to Select for the Opening Game of the 2024/25 PL Season

FPL Tips: Three Nottingham Forest Players to Select for the Opening Game of the 2024/25 PL Season

With the 2024/25 Premier League season kicking off on Friday night, fantasy football players will be itching to get their final teams confirmed for the opening weekend and hit the ground running to steal an early march on their competitors. Here are three Nottingham Forest players that you should transfer in for FPL Gameweek 1.

Three Nottingham Forest Players to Bring in for FPL Gameweek 1 vs Bournemouth

Nikola Milenkovic – Defender – £4.5 Million

One of Forest’s newest additions to the squad, Milenkovic signed for the club from Fiorentina for £12 million last month (July) after spending seven years in Serie A. Throughout his time in Italy, he established himself as the cornerstone of the Fiorentina defence, being one of their most consistent players. Eyebrows were raised when Forest managed to secure his signature ahead of other prying top European clubs, but the historic English outfit can be very pleased that they’ve secured the Serbian’s services for the next five years.

In terms of his FPL potential, with a price of £4.5 million, the 26-year-old is definitely worth taking a punt on. With Bournemouth letting Dominic Solanke go to Tottenham in the past few days, the Cherries look like they’ll be without a lethal goalscorer come Saturday afternoon, so bringing in a solid option of Milenkovic’s ability before a potential price rise could be a very smart move.

Ryan Yates – Midfielder – £5.0 Million

Mr Nottingham Forest himself, Ryan Yates could be another shrewd pickup to last you a while in your fantasy squad. The points system sees a player gain two points for playing 60 or more minutes during a match, and Yates exceeded that match timeframe in 20 of the 35 league games he played last season. As the club captain, the Englishman is likely to be on the pitch more than most of his teammates and certainly early on in the campaign, every point matters.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – Forward – £5.5 Million

Electric when on his day, Callum Hudson-Odoi is a player that many could be sleeping on for the opening weekend. Having scored against Bournemouth for Forest in a 1-1 draw last season, then bagging three goals in the last three matches of the 2023/24 campaign, these achievements surely point to the young winger having an impressive game against the Cherries and setting the tone for the rest of his season. After an impressive back end of last year when he looked to have returned to his best after injury troubles, backing Hudson-Odoi might not be the worst decision.

Of the seven seasons that Bournemouth have been in England’s top division, the Cherries have won just two of their opening league matches, losing three and drawing two, so if any of these Forest players were to make an impact, the time would surely be now.
