How Germany Women Have Lined Up Recently

Once again, Hrubesch only changed the team in one position compared to the previous match. In the Canada game, the starting lineup had Ann-Katrin Berger starting in goal. Meanwhile, Giulia Gwinn and Felicitas Rauch took up their positions on the flanks of the back four. Kathrin Hendrich and Marina Hegering played in the centre of the defence.

Alexandra Popp joined Janina Minge in the holding midfield positions, while Jule Brand, Sjoeke Nüsken, Klara Bühl, and Lea Schüller made up the front four.

The one change compared to the previous match was Hegering, who recovered from injury to replace Bibiane Schulze Solano.

Germany Women Recent Form and Tactics

Tactically, the 4-3-3 was changed back to the standard 4-2-3-1. While the match against Canada was far from the side’s best this tournament, there is clearly a strong team spirit that has developed within this group of players. They fight for each other and the shirt. The way that Hrubesch leads them is exemplary, as he seeks the players’ input into every major decision he makes.

This flatter hierarchy naturally makes him quite popular with his team and contributes greatly to the excellent atmosphere that is evident, both on and off the pitch.

The coach who has come out of retirement twice already to work with this team, is set to leave football for good at the end of the tournament. Hubesch pointed out that as long as his side can match the US’s speed and physicality, as well as take advantage of their opportunities, the chances of reaching the final are 50-50.

Germany Women Injuries to Consider

Sarai Linder is the only questionable player, though Rauch has made the left-back position her own since coming in for Linder as an alternate.
