How Arsenal Have Lined-up Recently

Arteta has given his youngsters ample opportunities so far. Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, and Ayden Heaven are some academy products who got a good chance to prove they are ready for a stint in the first team.

Karl Hein played in goal in all three friendlies and was excellent against Bournemouth in the penalty shoot-out. In the last match against Liverpool, Gabriel Magalhaes and Jakub Kiwior were the centre-backs, while Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko were used as the full-backs.

The midfield comprised of Thomas Partey, Kai Havertz, and captain Martin Odegaard. The frontline featured Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, and Reiss Nelson. The English winger has so far started all three pre-season outings.

Arsenal’s Recent Form and Tactics

Arsenal won the tie against Bournemouth through a penalty shoot-out (5-4) and defeated United 2-1. But the second game still went to penalties where the Red Devils emerged victorious.

The Gunners lost their fixture against Liverpool 2-1. Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho scored for the Reds whereas Havertz pulled one back for his side.

Arteta has been using Lewis-Skelly as an inverted left-back and the youngster does look comfortable in the role. If he continues his form he could become the long-term replacement for Zinchenko.

Arsenal Injuries to Consider

Kieran Tierney (hamstring) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee) are still the only injury concerns for Arsenal. Both players are expected to miss the entire pre-season.

David Raya, Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Declan Rice are back in training. They were given an extended holiday due to their participation in the latter stages of Euro 2024 and can now be expected to take part in the pre-season matches.
