The journalist reiterates that there are no issues between the Premier League heavyweights and Bayern Munich over the terms of this deal. This comes after it was reported that United had agreed a deal with the Bundesliga heavyweights to sign the 26-year-old for a fee in the region of £15 million-£20 million.
However, Romano explains that the completion of the deal to sign Mazraoui depends on the situation revolving around Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The journalist states that the Moroccan defender is “patiently waiting” for things to get resolved in order for him to move to Old Trafford. Only once the Red Devils are able to sell their English full-back will they be able to open up the necessary space for a new full-back. Romano also reports that Mazraoui has agreed on a five-year contract with the Premier League giants, which also has the option to extend to a potential sixth year (until 2030).
What Could Mazraoui Bring to United?
Even though they still have a lot of work to sort out before being able to sign the Bayern Munich full-back, the Red Devils could get an extremely versatile player in the Moroccan defender. Mazraoui has the experience of playing under Erik ten Hag, as it was the Dutch manager who promoted him from Ajax’s youth system in 2018. The 26-year-old won three Eredivisie titles in ten Hag’s Ajax squad and was part of the team that reached the Champions League semi-final in the 2018/19 season.

Across his career, the Bundesliga “ace” has proven himself willing and able to adapt to different roles. Naturally a right-back, he can also play as a left-back and has even played as a midfielder often in his career. He has made 55 appearances for Bayern since joining them in 2022, getting nine assists. He’s also made 28 appearances for the Morocco national team and can add more versatility as well as attacking intent to United’s defensive shape if able to complete the move.
