Liverpool Predicted Lineup vs Arsenal in Pre-Season Test

How Liverpool Have Lined-up Recently

Liverpool have played just one pre-season friendly. Caoimhin Kelleher started in goal, with Jarell Quansah and Sepp van den Berg his centre-backs. Kostas Tsimikas and Conor Bradley were the full-backs.

Wataru Endo and Curtis Jones started in deep midfield roles.

On the left-wing was Fabio Carvalho and on the right, Mohamed Salah. Strangely, Harvey Elliott and Dominik Szoboszlai played as double tens, with no striker in the side.

Liverpool’s Recent Form and Tactics

Arne Slot fielded a strange formation against Real Betis. With Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo yet to join the squad, and Jayden Danns injured, he had no striker available. The Reds lined up with an unorthodox 4-4-2 where the two strikers were really advanced number tens.

Whilst Slot will return to his preferred 4-2-3-1 for their Premier League opener, we can expect the “tactical twist” to continue against Arsenal this week. Szoboszlai particularly impressed in such an advanced role, and the Dutch coach will hope that this form will continue into their competitive matches as the Hungarian will play further forward than he did under Jurgen Klopp.

Despite winning the match 1-0, the Merseyside outfit did not greatly impress. There were bright sparks from the youth, however, with Trey Nyoni playing well at just 17-years-old, Ben Doak shining after returning from a long injury, and Conor Bradley continuing his form from last season.

Youngsters Bobby Clark and Jayden Danns also did not travel due to injury, whilst Curtis Jones was substituted in the 30th minute against Betis with a knock.
