A series of injuries have led to a stop-start career for the attacker/midfielder and has caused nothing but frustration and despair. It was a groin issue that has been a source of headaches for him. It has been troubling him right from the start of his senior Arsenal career and when he was on loan at RB Leipzig. This forced him to undergo surgery to resolve the issue. According to Transfermarkt, Smith Rowe was out for 258 days due to various injuries in the last four seasons and had missed 61 games for the Gunners.
Talks Scheduled
According to journalist Charles Watts, Arsenal and the player’s representatives will hold talks in the next couple of weeks. Being a product of the Hale End Academy he has a special link to the North London club. But featuring regularly in the starting lineup would be his utmost concern. The midfielder has only two years left on his contract.

Should Arsenal Keep or Sell
Continuous injuries can affect a player mentally and put a dent in performance when he returns. But Smith Rowe has shown none of that. Whenever he is fit and called upon to play he has given his 100%. The 2021/22 season is proof of the talent he can showcase when healthy. He played in 33 league games that term, scored ten goals, and assisted two.

Gunners’ midfielder Mohamed Elneny has confirmed his departure. Kai Havertz seems to be destined for a role as a centre-forward rather than a midfielder. And with Thomas Partey’s future in doubt, the team would do well to hold on to Smith Rowe.
Arsenal should convince Smith Rowe to sign a contract extension to protect his market value. And he should be given a chance to prove himself next campaign.
