How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Djordje Petrović remains the first choice goalkeeper and has rarely been benched since assuming the role of number one. Trevoh Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Malo Gusto, Alfie Gilchrist, and Marc Cucurella have all lined up in the back four at times.

Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández have been the defensive midfield pivot of choice. Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Noni Madueke, and Mykhailo Mudryk have all lined out in attacking midfield spots. Nicolas Jackson has been the sole striker.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

Mauricio Pochettino has stuck resiliently to his 4-2-3-1 formation. After a lengthy unbeaten run in the league, although sceptics did note the weaker quality of opposition in that time, the team have now lost two on the bounce to Manchester City and Arsenal with the latter being a one-sided demolition.

After showing a lot of goalscoring ability, the side have now been blanked in two consecutive outings, with their defensive record not getting any better they’ll need to find their firepower again soon.

Chelsea Injuries to Consider

Ahead of the clash, the club have released an official injury update providing a clear picture of who is and isn’t available. Palmer has been removed from the list entirely and is likely to play. Raheem Sterling and Carney Chukwuemeka have been added despite their limited game time recently.

Levi Colwill, Christopher Nkunku, Lesley Ugochukwu, Robert Sanchez, and Reece James are all in partial training but likely won’t be fit to start.

Fernández, Ben Chilwell, Gusto, Wesley Fofana, and Romeo Lavia are also sidelined for this one.
