Silva Rested: Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Wolves for February 4

Christopher Nkunku rises to head away a corner

This is a Chelsea predicted lineup for their clash with Wolves in the Premier League on February 4. The Blues are coming into this one off the back of a 4-1 defeat after failing to score against Aston Villa in the FA Cup. A result is needed in this middle-of-the-table match.

How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Djordje Petrović has established himself as the number one option in goal despite conceding four against Liverpool. The back four has been chopped and changed due to availability issues with Benoit Badiashile, Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, Ben Chilwell, Levi Colwill, Malo Gusto, and even Alfie Gilchrist seeing game time across the defensive line.

Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez has been the defensive midfield pairing of choice since Fernandez returned from a brief absence. The attacking spots have been divvied up between Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling, Conor Gallagher, and Mykhailo Mudryk with cameos from Carney Chukwuemeka and Christopher Nkunku.

Palmer has been utilised as a striker in the absence of Nicolas Jackson when Armando Broja hasn’t started. Broja has now joined Fulham on loan until the end of the season.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

Mauricio Pochettino has stuck to his 4-2-3-1 even in tough times. Things appeared to be on the up after a 6-1 win over Middlesbrough but a blank draw with Aston Villa and a major defeat to the Reds at Anfield have soured things.

Finishing chances is still an issue for this squad who should have got one past Emi Martinez in the FA Cup and arguably should have been much closer against Jurgen Klopp’s side in midweek. Defensively, they are either a tight ship or a leaky boat depending on the day, more consistency is needed if they are to make a genuine push up the table.

Chelsea Injuries to Consider

The latest injury report is yet another dismal read as eight players are still unavailable for Pochettino. Trevoh Chalobah is in team training and appears to be the closest to a return. Levi Colwill, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Robert Sanchez, and Lesley Ugochukwu all remain sidelined.

Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Wolves

Silva has played a lot of minutes over a busy run since the start of the calendar year, at 39-years-old he might need to be rested soon and for the first time in a while, Pochettino has enough fit defenders to accommodate that. In addition, there will likely be changes in attack with Jackson back from AFCON and the duo of Chukwemeka/Nkunku getting match fit.
