Tottenham Hotspur will not be intimidated by the six-point gap between them and league leaders Liverpool. Spurs have the best part of the rest of season to keep their title hopes alive. Ange Postecoglou is fine-tuning his squad so that the club remains towards the top of the Premier League table, which means even some of the most experienced personnel are finding themselves on the outside of the 58-year-old’s lineup selection.

What Postecoglou Said
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Friday covering remarks Postecoglou made in an interview. Tottenham’s manager stated that Croatian winger Ivan Perisic is “unlikely to play for us again.” The 34-year-old joined Spurs in 2022 from Inter Milan. He has since made 50 total appearances for the North London outfit.

Perisic underwent surgery in September following a complex cruciate ligament injury. The former World Cup finalist had featured in six fixtures this campaign before the injury. Postecoglou noted that “he’s working hard,” and gave credit to the veteran player, but with his contract running out in the summer it appears unlikely Spurs will extend his contract.

Perisic’s Successful Career to Date
The Croatian began his professional career in France. Unable to break into Sochaux’s first team, an opportunity in Belgium came calling. It was in Belgium where Perisic came on the radar of the top European clubs. Borussia Dortmund purchased him in 2011 and the winger made his debut for his national team the same year.
Moves to Wolfsburg, Inter and a loan to Bayern have filled Perisic’s trophy cabinet. In total, the veteran has accumulated two Bundesliga titles, one Serie A and one Champions League crown, as well as two podium finishes in the World Cup. Still regarded as a “brilliant” player as recently as 2022, the 34-year-old could see several clubs vying for his services this summer.
