‘He’s Leaving’: £250,000 P/W ‘Wonderful Talent’ Set to Depart Manchester United

Erik ten Hag watches Manchester United 2-0 loss to West Ham

After a horror performance in their Champions League group, Manchester United are left to focus on their Premier League campaign. The Red Devils sit just outside the European spots, but well within striking distance. Erik ten Hag will have to manage his team carefully to get the best out of them. Fabrizio Romano reports that one player is on the way out of the English outfit.

Anthony Martial Faces Exit

The Italian journalist stated that Anthony Martial “will not extend the contract at Manchester United for one more season.” After arriving in England from Monaco in 2015, the Frenchman cemented himself as a regular until injuries severely limited his playing time in 2021. 2022 was not the bounce-back he had hoped for, and now the 28-year-old is set to leave.

Romano all but confirmed that “He’s leaving.” The Lyon academy product has made over 200 appearances with United, including 19 this season. With 90 goals scored and a number of assists to boot, the reported £250,000-a-week footballer enjoyed a stretch of high-quality performances in his initial years at the club, but the injuries have seen that form start to fade.

When Martial leaves is still to be worked out between the club and the player. “We have to see if he leaves in the summer as a free agent or now in January,” Romano stated. No clubs have yet been linked to the Frenchman, but rumours will start to swirl as to where he could head when he departs United.

Martial’s Storied Career

A Nations League winner with France and Europa League winner with United, Martial has played at the highest level of European football for years. Described as a “wonderful talent,” the 28-year-old had a strong run with the Red Devils. Now, whether it be this month or in the summer, he will leave Old Trafford.
