Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Eddie Howe’s side are monitoring the Spanish midfielder but that many Premier League clubs are also doing the same. He claims that “at this stage” the Magpies have not made any official proposal to sign the La Liga midfielder in the January transfer window.

It appears the Magpies have an interesting plan in terms of their criteria to spend money for a new midfield acquisition in the upcoming January window. Romano wrote in his CaughtOffside column: “As I always said here, who the club go for as Sandro Tonali’s replacement will depend on their fate in Champions League – that is gonna be key to understand how much they will invest in January.”

What Could Guerra Bring To Newcastle?
The 20-year-old midfielder is seemingly highly rated by those at Valencia – evident by his release clause of £87 million, something which will make it tough for any team to sign him in January. Guerra has been one of the Spanish side’s best players this season and played both a defensive midfielder and a central midfielder role for them.

The youngster has made 14 appearances across all competitions for Valencia this season, scoring three goals and providing an assist in 13 La Liga games. Guerra is defensively disciplined and has proven himself capable of winning the ball in vital areas while also being quite adept at moving the ball forward and getting among the goals. The 20-year-old has been hailed as a “very complete” player and can bring more energy and attacking intent to Newcastle if they make a move for him.
