Are Al Ittihad Done With Salah Pursuit?
Fabrizio Romano claims that Al Ittihad are expected to come back with another bid to sign Salah, but that the Reds are relaxed about the situation as they keep on insisting that the winger is not going to go anywhere this season. He adds that even though Jurgen Klopp’s side remains adamant about not letting him go this year, the situation could be “more dangerous” in 2024.

He wrote on his CaughtOffside blog: “If Al Ittihad come back for Salah next year, there will be more time for them to put together something to tempt Liverpool, and more time for Liverpool to consider the deal and look for a replacement at the level of Salah. For now, it’s unlikely or even impossible, but for 2024 it could be a different story because Al Ittihad are really in love with the idea of signing Salah.”
At this point, it seems clear that the Reds are confident about their ability to keep the Egyptian, who was hailed as an “Incredible threat” by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola last year, for this entire campaign. But with the 31-year-old moving into the final year of his contract with the club in 2024, they could be braced for a nervy summer window if they really want to keep him beyond next summer.

Klopp’s side had a really eventful summer transfer window, in which they made a lot of changes to the squad. They completely reshuffled their midfield line from the previous campaign, with the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho sold to Saudi Arabia, as well as James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain released.

Liverpool managed to pull off a relatively bargain deal to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, before making another smart move for Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai. They signed a new defensive midfielder Wataru Endo from Stuttgart before completing their business with the acquisition of Gravenberch. Despite not making any major signings to improve their frontline or backline, the Reds still have a very strong side that is spearheaded by Salah, who seems set to remain at Anfield for the time being but could be tempted to make a switch in 2024.
