Wrexham Set To Sign Arsenal Youngster Arthur Okonkwo
Who is Arthur Okonkwo?
Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo is a product of the Gunners’ youth academy, having joined them as an eight-year-old in 2009. He spent 12 years in their youth system before being promoted to the senior level in 2021, making an appearance for them in their summer pre-season campaign in that year.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with two clubs. He had a short spell at Crewe Alexandra for the first half of the 2022/23 term, in which he made 26 appearances and kept 10 clean sheets in all competitions. Okonkwo was even hailed for his “incredible” attributes during his spell with the English club, but left them in January 2023 to spend the second half of the campaign with Austrian side Sturm Graz, making 18 appearances for them and six clean sheets.

Details of Wrexham’s Move for Okonkwo
The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell is reporting that the Red Dragons are set to sign young goalkeeper Okonkwo on loan for the 2023/24 season. The 21-year-old has not made any appearances for the Gunners’ senior team this term and has not been included in their Premier League Matchday squads either.
Campbell states that the goalkeeper is now set to complete a move to the recently promoted League Two side as he aims to gain some experience in the English football pryamid. The Red Dragons recently lost experienced goalkeeper Ben Foster, who decided to retire from professional football and left them weakened in the goalkeeping department.

36-year-old goalkeeper Mark Howard has been deputising for them in the last two games, which has seen them concede two goals and also get knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Bradford City. The League Two side are desperate to have an agile and proactive figure in between the goal, which they might be getting in Okonkwo.
