The Spaniard was not selected for Spurs’s opening match in the Premier League against Brentford. With the Tottenham manager appearing to favour the talents of new signing Destiny Udogie, the Left-sided defender will see little playing time this season unless a transfer to another club is made.
Although the North London club purchased the former Real Madrid man for a fee of £27 million, he has failed to make an impression on past and present managers, resulting in a lack of appearances and loan spells. As a result, the would-be transfer fee will likely be much lower than what the Lilywhites paid back in 2020.
Another Disappointing Purchase
Reguilon could be classified as one of many failed transfers that Daniel Levy has orchestrated over the past few seasons. He joins the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Bryan Gil, and Ryan Sessegnon as players who were bought with the expectation that they would play in the first team for many seasons to come – but failed for one reason or another.
Unfortunately for him, his loan move to Atletico Madrid didn’t work out. The defender missed numerous games due to injury and never played a full 90 minutes in any La Liga match.

A Potential Lifeline
Although the former Europa League winner couldn’t find success under Diego Simeone, he had success playing in La Liga with Sevilla before making the move to the Premier League. Perhaps by going to a new team while he is fully fit, there is a chance he can revive his career after multiple years of inconsistency.
