The Hammers have been in pursuit of Edson Alvarez, with the club looking to bring him to the London Stadium this transfer window. Fabrizio Romano has revealed West Ham have made an official bid to bring the Mexican to the Premier League club, as they look to build their squad up following last season’s Europa Conference League triumph.

Edson Alvarez Ready To Move
Romano further reports that Alvarez has made himself available to fly to England for his medical tests should the two clubs come to a quick arrangement. West Ham likely value that eagerness, and see it as an opportunity to press Ajax to get the deal done quickly, especially with personal terms already agreed.
Alvarez plays for the Mexican national team, and at 25 years old, can bring both experience and youth to the club. Winners of two Concacaf Gold Cups with Mexico, he brings a winning mentality to a team who will be participating in this season’s Europa League.
Moyes Under Pressure To Get Deal Done
A package offer of £30 million was made to Dutch club for the services of the Mexican midfielder. Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing as Ajax are likely to want as much money as possible for the player.
Hammers coach David Moyes has been berated by some within the West Ham front office and fan pages for not pursuing as many transfers as they wish.

In the Europa League, and another tough season in England’s top flight, West Ham will face skilled attackers who are going to hunt for weaknesses in opposing defences. Adding Alvarez will be seen as a victory for Moyes in addressing one of the team’s key needs.
Rice Gone But Replacement Moves Closer
With the sale of star midfielder Declan Rice completed, the team needs Alvarez urgently, with the season just around the corner. Few players are capable of emulating the Englishman’s skill on the ball and ability to drive his team. Should the Mexican move to West Ham, he will have to play well to fill the void left by Rice.

Fans will eagerly watch the Hammers take on Bournemouth on August 12, as their side returns to domestic football. Moyes and his players will have to be on their best form to better their performance from last year.
