‘Sealed, Completed’: Fabrizio Romano Confirms Breakthrough Star Commits Future to Chelsea

Levi Colwill has signed a six-year deal with Chelsea, committing his future to the Blues until 2029. Fabrizio Romano announced the deal as it was reported the new contract was signed on Monday, saying “sealed, completed.”

Colwill found himself as hot property this summer as Brighton seemed keen to keep the England youngster following his impressive campaign for the Seagulls last season. It was reported Liverpool were also tracking the centre back. Chelsea were always intent on retaining the star and finally, he has put pen to paper to commit to Mauricio Pochettino’s project for years to come.

Levi Colwill Remains a Blue After New Deal is Agreed

Pochettino Keeps Strength in Depth

With Kalidou Koulibaly leaving and Thiago Silva entering the twilight of his career, the door has opened for someone to cement themselves as a mainstay in Chelsea’s back line. Colwill has impressed on a club and national level with the England U21s. Being part of the history-making side to go through the entirety of the European Championships without conceding a goal made Colwill one of the Premier League’s hottest commodities.

A Loss for Brighton and Chelsea Rebuild

Last season, Colwill spent his time on loan on the south coast with an overachieving Brighton side that secured European football after finishing sixth in the premier league. The 20-year-old made 22 appearances for the Seagulls and shone in what was his debut top-flight campaign.

It’s no secret Chelsea are entering a new era under Pochettino as 14 players have left the West London outfit already. The players that remain seem to be ones that Poch is happy to include in any long-term plans.

Last season was too bad to be true for Blues fans and most are expecting them to bounce back to glory with no European football to worry about. The recent signing of Axel Disasi and the retention of Colwill are just two names that are going to be crucial to Chelsea’s success. This new-look defence could be instrumental in keeping goals conceded to a minimum.
