‘Will Discuss’: Chelsea Consider Move for 111 G/A Attacker

Fabrizio Romano has reported on the possibility of a swap deal that could change the fortunes of two teams. Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic could be heading to Stamford Bridge with Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku moving to Serie A in a player swap that could shock Europe.

The rumour has been picking up momentum, but neither team has announced whether or not the proposed swap has a chance of being accepted. Juventus reportedly want additional financial compensation to offset the fact that Vlahovic is younger and currently performing better than Lukaku.

Chelsea Consider Options Over Striker Swap Deal

Chelsea Looking To Rebuild With Potential Player Swap

Sky Italia has reported that the Blues were initially hesitant over the transfer as both Inter Milan and Saudi Arabia were fielding interest in their wantaway Belgian. Now, however, it appears they may have only one option which is to swap him for the Serbian. The Italian journalist notes that “Chelsea will discuss Vlahovic internally”

Chelsea, who are looking to improve upon last season’s disappointing display, have reportedly become more open to the offer, likely as their options to offload their striker dwindled.

How The Players Match Up

With 13 goals in only 21 caps for his national team, Vlahovic has continued to put himself on the radar of teams with deep pockets. Not that Juventus should not be respected as a former European champion, but the Serb has scored almost one goal for every two games spent with them and Fiorentina, so a move to the Premier League or La Liga has been coming for some time. He has amassed a total of 111 G/A in his career with 95 ending with him finding the net himself.

At 30 years old, Lukaku plays most of his best football for Belgium. The best of his career, which was truly noteworthy by all standards, is behind him. He performed well with Inter Milan and led them to this past season’s Champions League final, but the heavyset athlete has begun to lose his mobility and failed to get out of the way of several key shots made by the team in the final.

If the swap is made it would be appropriate for The Old Lady to ask for some money from Chelsea to help cover the distance between the two star strikers. Juventus would still obtain an experienced and somewhat capable striker in Lukaku, but The Blues would acquire, if the swap is completed, a striker who could lead their team for years to come.
