Chelsea have recently made another bid for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, but according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the bid was rejected. The offer was £80 million, but Brighton turned it down immediately. The implications are massive for The Blues.
The two sides are still in talks about the potential sale of the Ecuadorian to the London club, but for the time being Caicedo remains safely in Brighton’s possession. At the youthful age of 21, Caicedo has been targeted by Chelsea and other clubs as a potential future club legend should he continue to develop.

Big Price Tag Could Be Made Bigger
Caicedo Could Stay This Transfer Window
Due to recent evaluations of various Premier League midfielders, Brighton fans have begun to clamour for a rather comical amount of money for the player to leave the Seagulls. Owners are not beholden to their supporter’s transfer desires, but club officials know that disappointing their base can be disastrous when it comes to merchandise sales.

With interested parties such as Chelsea and Manchester United not willing to meet Brighton’s appraisal of their star midfielder, it is becoming increasingly likely that Caicedo does not depart this summer. Brighton will play in the Europa League this upcoming season thanks to their 6th-place finish last season.
While domestic opponents Liverpool, among other teams in the competition, will be favored to win the Europa League, Brighton could make a deep run if they maintained the services of Caicedo. That will be left to the bidding of Chelsea, though, as The Blues have more than enough money to make the necessary offer, but are wary of paying so much for such a young player.
Potential Fueling Player’s Fame
Caicedo has plenty of time to get his big-money move to a Premier League big-six club. The best thing for the youngster to do now is just continue to develop the skills that have made him such a coveted player. He has already represented his national team, and to get Brighton a spot in European football is also no small feat.
Chelsea will likely make a new bid for the deep-playing yet play-producing midfielder who already has seasoned awareness of the pitch around him, but no matter where Caicedo goes he is presently one of Europe’s most exciting young prospects.
