‘Sell Him’: Chelsea Fans React After Star Picks Up Major Injury

Stamford Bridge - Gabriel Moscardo.

Chelsea fans have reacted quite ferociously to a new report of a major injury in the squad. A key defender has now been ruled out for the season leading to some fan outcry over his future at the club.

One user stated that: “at this rate we should sell him. Another waste of money injury prone player”. Another incensed fan followed suit: “nahh sell him, I’m done”. It appears that Blues fans may be done waiting for the defender to achieve full fitness.

Rebuild

Torn ACL

Nathan Gissing has reported that French defender Wesley Fofana is out with a torn ACL. This will require surgery and could see him miss the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign according to other Chelsea insiders. This news has not gone down well with the fanbase with some, like those mentioned above, wanting the team to cut their losses with the 22-year-old.

The injury leaves the Blues with Thiago Silva, Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill, and Trevoh Chalobah as remaining options at the centre-back position. Unless a signing is made between now and the beginning of the regular season, we could see the inexperienced Badisahile of Colwill get the nod to start at the heart of the back line.
