Lamine Yamal is set to sign his first professional contract with FC Barcelona. Fabrizio Romano has reported that the club have ‘reached full agreement’ with the teenager to sign a long term deal. The youngster turned 16 years old on July 13, 2023 and is now eligible to sign a professional contract.

Contract Terms
The Italian journalist wrote on his social meda that Barcelona have reached a full agreement with Jorge Mendes, Yamal’s agent, for a long term deal. The teenager will commit his future to the Catalan side by signing a three year deal, valid till June 2026.

Career so far
Yamal became the youngest player to ever play for Barcelona last season at the age of 15. The Spaniard came off the bench against Real Betis towards the latter stages of the season. The youngster has shown immense potential at a very young age, showcasing brilliant dribbling skills coupled with an eye for goal. The left footed forward is a creative force, finding pockets of space in between the lines and linking up with teammates efficiently.

The 16-year old was the Star of the Spain U-17 national team in the recently culminated European U-17 championship. He was the driving force behind Spain’s journey to the semis, becoming the tournament’s joint top scorer with four goals.
Future plans
The youngster will be in the first team dynamics next season, training with the first team and travelling with the squad. He will play for Barca Atletic, managed by Rafa Marquez when he does not see playing time for the first team. Blaugrana fans are excited by the 16-year old’s meteoric rise and his performances at such a young age. The club will be hoping he takes the path other youngsters like Gavi and Ansu Fati took and break into the first team at a tender age laying a solid foundation for the future.
