Payment Terms and Medical for Jurrien Timber to Be Completed

The update from Fabrizio Romano states Arsenal are getting closer to completing the Timber transfer. A further report from Mike Verweij at De Telegraaf has revealed that the Gunners and Ajax have reached a verbal agreement for a fixed fee of £36 million, with bonuses potentially taking the transfer fee to £40 million.

The update from Romano explains negotiations for the deal are at the final stages, with positive talks taking place between all parties. Arsenal are currently discussing payment terms with Ajax according to the update. Once the terms for paying the transfer fee are agreed, it will then be time for the player to complete his medical.

Arsenal have moved efficiently thus far in this transfer window. Mikel Arteta’s team have already announced one big signing this summer with the signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea. Arsenal are also resolving final payment details as they look to finalise the £105 million capture of Declan Rice from West Ham United.

What Qualities Timber Will Bring to Arsenal

The 22-year-old Dutchman has appeared 15 times for his country. He enjoyed an impressive rise at Ajax, working his way through the various age groups at the Dutch giants before making 121 appearances in all competitions for the Eredivisie club. Timber operates predominantly as a centre-back, but can also play at right-back. He is composed on the ball and reads the game well. He is confident bringing the ball out of defence and starting attacks for his team.

The Gunners look set to sign the promising young defender who would undoubtedly improve Arteta’s options in defence, as his team prepare to return to the Champions League.
