Pochettino has wasted no time in stamping his authority, by cutting the squad with significant departures. It seems the Argentine will be overseeing a rebuild at Stamford Bridge. When you look at the club’s departures many were expected, but there is still plenty of quality in the squad. The new arrivals have undoubtedly added quality to an already talented squad.
Three Confirmed New Signings With One More on the Way?
The outgoings at Stamford Bridge have undoubtedly occupied most news stories about Chelsea, but the new arrivals have plenty of promise. On January 29, 2023, Chelsea confirmed the signing of Malo Gusto for £26.3m plus add-ons from Lyon. The right-back remained in Ligue 1 with Lyon for the second half of last season, and will bring depth to the Chelsea right-back area for the new season. Gusto is a solid defender, whose main attributes are his passing and ability to read the game.
Christopher Nkunku has signed for Chelsea for £52 million. The 25-year-old French international will bring excitement to Stamford Bridge, he is brilliant at escaping tight spaces and carrying the ball effectively. He’s exciting to watch and always looks like he can make something happen.

Nicholas Jackson has been confirmed as a Chelsea player by Fabrizio Romano, for £32 million. The 22-year-old Senegal international striker will bring a cutting edge to Stamford Bridge, which was lacking last season. The new arrival enjoyed an impressive campaign for Villarreal CF, scoring 12 goals in 26 La Liga appearances.
The three arrivals already mentioned look set to be joined by highly talented Brazilian winger Angelo Gabriel, who will seemingly go out on loan next season. The main target for Chelsea appears to be Moises Caicedo from Brighton, with the Seagulls reportedly asking for £100 million. Caicedo would bring some much-needed steel to the Chelsea midfield. His addition will seemingly free up Enzo Fernandez to influence the game further forward. He is brilliant at breaking the play up and possesses impressive vision, which would improve a Chelsea midfield, that lacked quality and continuity last season.
