Leeds United have sacked Jesse Marsch as the head coach at the club after a dire run of form, according to a club statement. In spite of severe backing in his time at the club, the American has helped the Whites to just 18 points in the side’s first twenty matches of the Premier League season. There are a few potential candidates for the position as Andrea Radrizzani will look for a new manager at the club.

Why Have Leeds United Sacked Jesse Marsch?
Leeds United have sacked Jesse Marsch after an incredibly poor run of results. Although the Premier League club are unbeaten in the FA Cup and have a great position for a run deep into the competition, this hasn’t translated to the league. Leaving the Whites without a win since 5 November, he hasn’t done enough to retain his position at the club.

What Did the Fans Think?
Prior to the match fans were already discussing getting the manager out, and a poor result against Nottingham Forest was the last straw. After having conversations with Leeds United fans at the time of the sacking, Last Word on Football received this feedback from some loyal Whites:
“He came, he saw, he blundered” – John M.
“He took too much time getting his ideas across, it shouldn’t take 14 months to train the tactics” – Kieran S.
“He seemed a nice guy, thanks for the moments we enjoyed” – Ash L.
“Not a bad bloke, but I do think he’s absolutely out of his depth” – Mike B.
In addition to these conversations, you can see plenty of discussion about how Jesse Marsch was a reasonable enough person, but not a good enough manager, littering social media.

What Next?
Next steps for Leeds United could be complicated. The club will look to get a manager that can both save the club from relegation and help to build them up as Leeds United try to grow. One idea that fans may like is Carlos Corberan, formerly a youth manager at Leeds, that has been having excellent results at West Bromwich Albion.
