Manchester United will not let Victor Lindelof leave at any price before the end of the January transfer window, confirms Fabrizio Romano. He also adds that there have not been any negotiations with another club for the potential departure of Harry Maguire – who is likely to stay despite falling out of favor at Old Trafford this season.

Victor Lindelof and Maguire to Stay at United for Rest of the Season
Both the defenders have lost their first-team regular roles at United this season, with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez taking up those positions under Erik ten Hag. However, Romano confirms that there is no way that United will allow Victor Lindelof to leave in January, as he is considered as 100% part of the squad.
Despite links to Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, the Swedish centre-back will not be allowed a shock deadline-day transfer. When it comes to Maguire, Romano adds that he might’ve also been linked to a move to Inter – but his future will be fully decided in the summer rather than anytime soon.

He states that Maguire’s future will not be decided before the January transfer deadline unless anything truly crazy happens before the deadline time of 11pm GMT on Tuesday. That means both the centre-backs should remain at Old Trafford until the end of the season and help their side have a successful second half of the campaign.
Lindelof and Maguire No Longer First-Choice at Old Trafford
Since the arrival of Martinez from Ajax in the summer transfer window, Erik ten Hag appears to have changed things around in his backline. Victor Lindelof and Maguire were considered first-choice in recent years, but have been replaced this campaign because of the strong partnership formed between Martinez and Varane.

The United captain as well as the Swedish centre-back have combined weekly wages of £310,000, taking up a pretty hefty chunk of the Red Devils’ wage structure. So unless they can significantly improve their form to match the standards set by Ten Hag, the duo could be put up for sale in the summer and possibly offloaded.
