It was a mixed bag for Oxford United this week with two disastrous results in the league but some vital news off the field.

Huge Boost for Stadium Site
Oxford’s search for a new stadium took a massive step forward following a council meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
Oxfordshire County Council’s followed up its recommendation to allow officers to begin talks on ‘outline legal and commercial terms’, with regards to ‘The Triangle’, south of Kidlington Roundabout.
The legal agreement between the club and the council must meet certain objectives, which include maintaining a green barrier between Oxford and Kidlington, enhancing facilities for local sports groups, and improving public transport in the area.
Although it isn’t the preferred site, time is running out for the club to find a location with the lease at the Kassam Stadium running out in 2026.
Defeat Against the Chairboys
Oxford’s inconsistent season continued with a 2-0 defeat on the road against Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday night.
The U’s had picked up six points from their previous two games against Fleetwood Town and Ipswich Town respectively, but their inability to put a run of results occurred again at Adams Park, with both goals coming in the first half.
Young U’s Out of Oxon Senior Cup
A young Oxford side crashed out of the Oxon Senior Cup following a 4-2 defeat on the road at Oxford City.
The hosts led the game 3-0 before Tyler Goodrham and Gatlin O’Donkor – who were both involved at Wycombe – reduced the deficit.
However, another goal from the Hoops killed off any chances for the U’s to get back into the game.
Oxford United Winger Joins National League Club
Summer signing Jodi Jones has joined National League promotion hopefuls Notts County on loan until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old winger has managed just five league appearances this season, amassing a mere 17 minutes. In total, he has turned out eight times for the club since his arrival from Coventry City.
Notts County currently sit second in the fifth tier, three points behind leaders Wrexham.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Karl Robinson said: “Jodi’s not been able to get the minutes he would have liked with us, so this loan gives him the opportunity to go and play first-team football.
“Notts are a good side and fighting for promotion so that’s an exciting environment for him to go into.”
Another Away Day Defeat
On Saturday, the U’s suffered another 2-0 loss on the road, this time at strugglers Burton Albion.
Oxford squandered several early chances but the Brewers netted in each half to secure a vital win for them.
The result leaves Karl Robinson’s side 14th in League One with 11 defeats from 28 games.
