Manchester United look to be set to miss out on two winter transfer window targets with Memphis Depay set to join Atletico Madrid from Barcelona, confirms Fabrizio Romano. Switzerland goalkeeper Yann Sommer has also completed a move to Bayern Munich as a replacement for the injured Manuel Neuer.

The Dutch forward is set to stay in La Liga and join Diego Simeone’s side after the Blaugrana were able to strike an agreement with Atletico. Romano adds that the fee for his transfer will be around a meagre £2.6 million to £3.4 million and that he has already travelled to the Spanish capital to undergo his medicals.

Depay was linked with a return to Old Trafford earlier in this window, but it appears that interest faded away after Manchester United swiftly moved to sign Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley. Depay struggled to get game-time at Barcelona this season after the arrival of Robert Lewandowski and scored one goal in just four appearances for the La Liga giants.
