Manchester United will look to bounce back following a disappointing defeat at the hands of Aston Villa in the latest round of the English Premier League. The Red Devils face Unai Emery’s side once again in the third round of the EFL Cup.
United lost 3-1 to Villa in what was an abysmal performance at Villa Park last Sunday. The Erik ten Hag-led side was overpowered after falling behind 2-0 within the first 15 minutes of the game. The defeat saw the Birmingham-based club win against United at home for the first time since 1995.
A host of changes seem to be on the cards as Ten Hag will look to rest some of his key players ahead of facing Fulham in the league on Sunday.

How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently
Erik ten Hag has been consistent in rotating the United squad while the team moved back and forth between the English Premier League and the UEFA Europa League.
Lisandro Martinez has been a mainstay in the team, while Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw have also been undroppable. Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen has been one of the star players on the pitch for the Red Devils. David De Gea has started every game for the Old Trafford outfit this season.

Things might change in the upcoming match as the Ten Hag could field fresher legs, keeping the league game against Fulham on Sunday in mind.
Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics
United’s management have more often than not fielded the 4-1-4-1 formation, with the majority of success coming from a forward three. This trend will likely continue at Old Trafford on Thursday.
The Red Devils were in stellar form in the league and the Europa League prior to their loss away from home against Villa on Sunday. United won two out of their last five league games while drawing two and losing one.
The loss to Villa was the Ten Hag-led side’s first loss in the league since the defeat to Manchester City on October 2.
Manchester United Injuries to Consider
Erik ten Hag discussed his squad in a recent press conference. Raphael Varane has unfortunately been ruled out of the United Squad ahead of the World Cup. Meanwhile, Antony and Jadon Sancho have also been on the sidelines, thanks to injuries and are not expected to start. While Sancho was reportedly away with illness, Antony’s injury has not yet been disclosed.
Meanwhile, Antony Martial recently returned to the squad against Villa when he came on as a substitute. He is expected to start the EFL Cup game.
The EFL Cup could also mark the debut of Martin Dubravka following his loan move from Newcastle United in the summer.
