Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion Predictions and Best Odds for November 9

Mikel Arteta looking on

Arsenal host Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday, November 9 at the Emirates Stadium. The pair face off in the third round of the Carabao Cup with both equally as eager to make it into the next round.

Arsenal vs Brighton Predictions

Arsenal Current Run of Form

Mikel Arteta has got his roster of players playing the best football of their lives and Arsenal – for all their troubles in recent seasons – currently sit top as we take a break from the domestic season for the World Cup.

Any doubts about the quality of this squad are now gradually fading as this squad is answering every single question thrown at them.

The Gunners enter at this stage of this competition on three consecutive wins with zero goals conceded. Arsenal dispatched five against 20th-placed Nottingham Forest with the introduction of Reiss Nelson proving to be a stroke of magic from the Spaniard.

In recent times, they have managed to complete two 1-0 wins both home and away against FC Zurich and Chelsea, respectively. The team in question restored their two-point lead at the top of England’s top-flight as they reduced Chelsea to sour grapes when Gabriel unconventionally poked home Bukayo Saka’s set piece in the 63rd minute.

Southampton held them to a draw at the end of last month as an early Granit Xhaka goal was cancelled out when Stuart Armstrong found the back of the net. Other than this one hiccup, if that’s what you can call it, Arsenal have been unstoppable.

Brighton & Hove Albion Current Run of Form

A change in management so early in the season is never easy and Brighton had to deal with losing arguably the best English coach in the world. Brighton’s new mastermind endured a tough first few weeks in charge but has seemed to turn things around. They currently find themselves in the Europa League spots and have enjoyed emphatic wins over Chelsea, Leicester and Wolves.

A rampant Brighton side beat Chelsea in a 4-1 drubbing as Graham Potter was given quite the reception on his return two weekends ago. Manchester City, and in particular Erling Haaland, enjoyed inviting Brighton to the Etihad as they eased past them, with a Leonardo Trossard goal merely a consolation.

In Robert de Zerbi’s first match in charge, Brighton found it within themselves to score three goals against a then out-of-form Liverpool but then endured three Premier League games against Tottenham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest on the trot without scoring, only managing to secure one point from the possible nine in those three fixtures.

This season has been a season for unearthing the true talent of certain Brighton personnel, with Alexis Mac Allister, Leonardo Trossard and Pascal Gross being integral for them this season.

Recent Head to Head

Recent head-to-head statistics supply pretty good reading for fans from the East Coast as they have only lost two from their last six matches.

The current league leaders failed to take all three points from either of their Premier League meetings against Brighton last campaign, but the two are yet to meet this season. A late goal from Martin Odegaard reduced the deficit in their most recent meeting with a goalless draw witnessed earlier in the term.

Ivorian winger Nicolas Pepe scored a second-half brace to settle the score the season before at the Emirates, whilst an injury-time winner from new Everton recruit Neal Maupay sealed the three points for Brighton just six months prior.

Another 2-1 victory was secured by the Seagulls in the 19/20 season as Neal Maupay – again – provided that extra cushion in front of the 60,000 attendees in North London.

Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion Prediction

The home side are without an EFL Cup triumph but have not been in finer form to end their ever-growing drought than this season. With only one loss, one draw and 11 wins in the Premier League and topping their group in Europe, Arsenal should be entering the next round though Robert de Zerbi’s side will be far from a pushover. With their frontmen lacing up their shooting boots before each fixture, their midfield understanding their roles to perfection and their backline proving to be sound, Brighton will struggle to control possession and will have limited chances.

Current Odds: Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Understandably, Arsenal are the favourites for this tie as they are priced at 4/6 with a result in favour of the visitors at 4/1. However, if the sides were to draw, the odds are at 29/10.
