Midlands Derby and a South Coast Hammering? – Premier League Predictions for Matchweek 10

Premier League predictions featuring Erling Haaland

The Premier League table is starting to shape, with an incredibly tight pack in the middle of the division and Erling Haaland causing Manchester City to rocket up the league. See what the Last Word on Football team thinks will happen this week in all of the league’s fixtures.

Premier League Predictions – Matchweek 10

Newcastle United vs Brentford

Jamie Rooke: 2-2

Dan Hepburn: 1-1

Joe Blackburn: 2-0

Jordan Hackett: 2-1

Joseph Howes: 2-1

This new-look Newcastle side are feared by most and it isn’t hard to see why. The potential return of Allan Saint-Maximin could be huge in this one, but talking of returns, Brentford’s Ivan Toney is back at St James Park. The way football goes, he will surely find the back of the net against the club that let him go and it will be in a score draw

Jamie Rooke

Bournemouth vs Leicester City

Jamie Rooke: 1-2

Dan Hepburn: 0-2

Joe Blackburn: 1-2

Jordan Hackett: 1-3

Joseph Howes: 1-0

Despite what one would have thought at the start of the season, Bournemouth come into this game in much stronger form than Leicester City. The Cherries are excelling under interim boss Gary O’Neil, and are without a loss since their 9-0 thumping at the hands of Liverpool. Leicester, meanwhile, have had a dreadful start to the season, but did manage to get their first victory last Monday when they beat Nottingham Forest fairly comprehensively. Despite this, I still see a victory here for the South Coast side, although it won’t be easy.

Joseph Howes

Manchester City vs Southampton

Jamie Rooke: 5-0

Dan Hepburn: 5-1

Joe Blackburn: 6-0

Jordan Hackett: 3-0

Joseph Howes: 4-0

Manchester City play host to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, and let’s be honest at this point it isn’t a question of who comes out on top in our Premier League prediction, but of how many goals City score. Even in spite of Southampton’s relatively high levels of fitness, this should be a demolition job that could put another nail in Ralph Hassenhuttl’s managerial coffin. 6-0 City, with yet another Erling Haaland hat trick.

Joe Blackburn

Chelsea vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Jamie Rooke: 1-0

Dan Hepburn: 2-0

Joe Blackburn: 3-0

Jordan Hackett: 3-1

Joseph Howes: 1-0

Chelsea have found the winning tune under new manager Graham Potter over the last week. Following his first game, a 1-1 draw with Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League, they saw off Crystal Palace on the road last week and recorded a comfortable European home win over AC Milan. Wolverhampton Wanderers, however, have opted to part ways with Bruno Lage and haven’t yet replaced him. Chelsea can take advantage of the chaos and remain unbeaten at Stamford Bridge this season.

Jordan Hackett

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur

Jamie Rooke: 1-1

Dan Hepburn: 2-1

Joe Blackburn: 1-1

Jordan Hackett: 1-0

Joseph Howes: 1-2

Still something of an unknown quantity under new boss Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton certainly head into their game against Tottenham with a few tricks up their sleeve. That said, Antonio Conte’s side have had a strong start to the season, and despite losing at the hands of in-form North London rivals Arsenal last weekend, I foresee a return to winning ways for Spurs.

Joesph Howes

Crystal Palace vs Leeds United

Jamie Rooke: 2-2

Dan Hepburn: 1-1

Joe Blackburn: 0-2

Jordan Hackett: 2-1

Joseph Howes: 3-1

Crystal Palace go into this match relatively poor on form, but with good reason. They’ve faced some of the better opponents in the league and shown positive signs thus far. Leeds United are in a similar position, with results not quite matching the levels of performance. Both sides will look to make a real impact here, but I feel like the Whites are in with a good chance of snatching the points. 2-0 Leeds, and I promise that’s not my local bias coming through in this Premier League prediction.

Joe Blackburn

Everton vs Manchester United

Jamie Rooke: 0-2

Dan Hepburn: 1-3

Joe Blackburn: 1-0

Jordan Hackett: 1-2

Joseph Howes: 0-2

Frank Lampard has quietly got Everton moving in the right direction, losing just two Premier League games this season. This will be a huge test for the Toffees, who held Liverpool to a draw at Goodison Park last month. Manchester United won’t get an easy ride as they seek a league response to last week’s disastrous derby but they can edge this game out and get back on an upward curve.

Jordan Hackett

Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa

Jamie Rooke: 1-1

Dan Hepburn: 1-3

Joe Blackburn: 2-0

Jordan Hackett: 0-3

Joseph Howes: 1-2

Despite their worrying start to the season, Nottingham Forest have continued to put their trust in Steve Cooper by extending his contract and he will be looking to return the favour this weekend against Aston Villa. A mixed beginning for the visitors has turned on its head in recent weeks with three unbeaten results and conceding just the one in those fixtures. Steven Gerrard will come out on top. 3-1.

Dan Hepburn

Arsenal vs Liverpool

Jamie Rooke: 2-1

Dan Hepburn: 2-0

Joe Blackburn: 2-0

Jordan Hackett: 2-1

Joseph Howes: 1-1

Currently sitting at top of the table, Arsenal will be looking to continue their impressive run of form to make it eight wins from nine. Liverpool, on the other hand, are enduring their worst start to domestic football in a while. Both teams won convincingly in Europe in mid-week and will be hoping to take that momentum when the two face off at the Emirates. This fixture will be a telling one in regard to how the rest of the season may unravel. 2-0 Arsenal.

Dan Hepburn

West Ham United vs Fulham

Jamie Rooke: 1-3

Dan Hepburn: 1-0

Joe Blackburn: 1-1

Jordan Hackett: 1-1

Joseph Howes: 2-2

Fulham visiting the London Stadium is hardly one of the most ferocious derbies in the capital. That being said, West Ham just won in the Europa League mid-week and Fulham are exceeding expectations, so both teams are looking to continue building. The league form of the Hammers has been pretty poor and they will continue to struggle in this one.
