Tottenham Hotspur currently holds the option to extend Antonio Conte’s contract at any point they feel necessary, reports Football London’s Alasdair Gold. This comes after surprising links emerged claiming that Juventus were thinking about replacing Massimiliano Allegri with the Italian manager.

Conte ‘Happy to Discuss’ Contract Extension at Tottenham Hotspur
The Italian manager has had some alleged disagreements about how Spurs are run since he took over at the club last season. He persistently indicated over the previous campaign that his squad needs to be properly strengthened to his liking and even hinted at possibly leaving altogether if some of his demands weren’t met.
But Football London confirms that Conte’s contract extension isn’t a “two-way street” that would need both parties to agree to it – but that the Lilywhites hold the option to trigger an extension to prolong his stay with them. The Italian’s current deal runs up until the end of this season.

Moreover, the 53-year-old manager is now seemingly happy and settled at the club as well. It’s also added that Conte’s close sources have suggested that he would be willing to sit down and discuss a long-term deal – even though he indicated in pre-season that he doesn’t really need a major multi-year deal to remain happy with Spurs. But this update should eliminate Conte’s surprising links to Juventus – who reportedly want him to replace their current manager.

Conte’s Successful Stint at Spurs So Far
Conte was appointed as the manager of Tottenham Hotspur in November 2021 after their poor start to the 2021/22 season. The Lilywhites were stuck in ninth position in the Premier League when he took over, five points behind the top four. The Italian’s first campaign with Spurs was a bit rocky, as he saw his side eliminated from the group stages of the UEFA Europa Conference League as well as falling in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

They went to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and ended up losing to Chelsea. But Conte ensured his side piled on the pressure in the Premier League and ultimately managed to pip their North London rivals Arsenal to finish in fourth place, guaranteeing qualification for the Champions League. After a proactive summer transfer window, which saw them make major signings like Richarlison from Everton, the Lilywhites are currently joint-second in the Premier League this season and are yet to lose a game.
