Fabrizio Romano has issued an update on the future of Lionel Messi as his initial Paris Saint-Germain contract is set to end in the summer of 2023.
Romano’s report states that “Leo Messi will not make any decision on his future in the next weeks or months”. The Argentine is currently focused on his parent club and the impending world cup, which could be his last given his age. Romano finishes by reiterating that the player won’t make a decision, but PSG are preparing a new deal and Barcelona are interested.

Grass May Not Be Greener
To say the footballing world was shocked when the 35-year-old left his long-time home for Paris would be an understatement. The grass hasn’t exactly been greener for the forward since his move to France however. In his first season, the team crashed out of the Champions League and he only managed 11 goals in 34 appearances.

While season two in Paris has gotten off to a better start for both the man himself and his side, it remains to be seen if he can replicate the form that won him seven Ballon d’Or trophies.

Club President Joan Laporta hasn’t been shy about his desire to bring the prodigal son back to the Catalan giants. While the five-time Champions League winners are still dealing with debt issues they managed to manoeuvre money well enough to make some blockbuster signings this off-season. Who’s to say they couldn’t do it again to get Messi back?
