Premier League Return

This will be the first time that the 33-year-old has played in the English league since leaving Chelsea in 2017. During his time with The Blues, the striker helped fire them to a league title and finished his stint in the competition with 52 goals in just 89 games.

The question remains over whether Costa will still be able to score goals at the highest level again but he will no doubt be eager to get back to scoring ways.

A Tepid Reunion

After leaving the Blues, the forward went back to Atletico Madrid, where he first came to prominence in 2012. Unfortunately for both parties, it was far from the perfect reunion. In 81 games for the team, he only put the ball in the net 19 times. Twelve of those goals came in La Liga, taking him 61 appearances to hit that mark.

The love affair came to an end in 2021 when the 33-year-old’s contract was terminated, which spurred on his return to Brazil with Mineiro where he had a decent output of five strikes in 19 games.

One thing is for sure, whether he is scoring or not, the Spaniard will have a strong presence on the field, as evidenced by his time playing in London. He is a feisty and passionate leader of the line who can single-handedly change the tide of a game.

He is a risky signing but one that could pay off in spades for the side who finished tenth in the table last season.
