Baggies Defender on Oxford United Radar

Oxford United have expressed interest in West Bromwich Albion right-back Ethan Ingram, according to The Athletic.

The 19-year-old is the fourth choice in the position at the Hawthorns with Darnell Furlong and Taylor Gardner-Hickman among those ahead of him. As a result, the defender is keen to get regular minutes at senior level.

The need for a right-back is a priority for Oxford, but they could face a battle with time. MK Dons, Cheltenham Town and Crewe Alexandra to land the youngster.

West Brom aren’t looking to sell, despite only making his Baggies debut last season, so a loan move would suit both parties.

Ingram has featured over 60 times for the Baggies’ U18 and U21 teams, where he has scored once and added eight assists.

U’s Lose Against Lincoln

Oxford suffered a third league defeat of the season as Lincoln City left Grenoble Road with all three points.

The Imps scored twice in the first half despite spells of dominance from the hosts. Oxford did reduce the deficit with 20 minutes remaining after Cameron Brannagan netted from the penalty spot but they were unable to snatch an equaliser, despite being on top for much of the second half.

The result left the U’s just outside the bottom four ahead of the visit of Morecambe on Saturday.

Frustrating Draw Against the Shrimps

Oxford’s week ended in further disappointment as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Morecambe.

The U’s changed formation for this game with two up top being the main talking point but it was the visitors who took the lead after the restart.

However, one of those attacking changes in Kyle Joseph netted his first Oxford goal to rescue a point for the hosts.

Oxford finished the game with ten shots on target from 27 attempts at the Morecambe goal.
