Championship Club Looking to Add Talented U21 to Their Ranks

Tyreece Simpson looks set to join Championship side Huddersfield Town. Ipswich Town and the Yorkshire club are said to have agreed a fee for the forward who ranked among the top five English U21 goalscorers across the top four divisions last season.

The Terriers need another striker in their squad and young talent would likely please supporters. Huddersfield have two strikers in Jordan Rhodes and Danny Ward, who are both in their 30’s so bringing in young fresh blood will not only give competition to the two old hands but will also show intent for the long-term. A young talented striker looking to make a mark in the Championship will help the Terriers in an area they are lacking depth.

Huddersfield want to build on last season when they made the play-off final, before losing out to Nottingham Forest by one goal. Scoring goals has generally been an issue for the Championship side. Ward and Rhodes are their joint-top goalscorers with two goals so far this season but the side currently sit in the relegation zone having won only one of their first four games.

Tyreece Simpson Could Help Huddersfield Town Have More Firepower

The 20-year-old will bring fresh legs to the strikeforce and more options for head coach Danny Schofield. Huddersfield need goals and Simpson scored 11 whilst on loan with Swindon Town last season. Ward has been back with Huddersfield since 2020 and netted a total of 14 times last season. Rhodes rejoined the Terriers in 2021 and scored four times in the 2021/22 campaign.

Should Simpson cope with playing at a higher level and contribute as he did at Swindon, he could help Huddersfield reach their goal of climbing the table. The youngster will add another element to the Terriers’ attack.
